If you put the North and West markers in the compass (W - N), than that is th edirection you need to head, if you have the legendary edition (not sure if he will be there in the normal version of the game), you will come across a Vigilant of Stendarr, the wood elf that has the map is behind the boulders just to the east of where you meet this person.
This map can be found north-west of volunruud high up in the mountains. Found at: On the table inside Angi's Cabin in Angi's Camp.
